The Latina/Latino Studies Program of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites proposals/abstracts for an interdisciplinary graduate student conference to be held February 20-22, 2009. The purpose of this conference is to explore the historical and cultural processes that affect Latinas/os in the United States. The 2009 conference seeks to engage in understanding the development, application, and future of gender, sexuality and feminism in relation to U.S. Latinas/os. We aim to centralize silences, absences and non-normative bodies of analysis within academic spaces through an interdisciplinary dialogue. Terquedades/ Nuevos "Sitios y Lenguas": (Re)Imagining Gender, Sexuality and Feminism in Latina/o Studies will foster an ongoing cross-disciplinary discussion that will consider commonalities, differences, and varied experiences of Latina/o populations in this country.
Topics could include but are not limited to:

• Immigration and Transnationalism
• Globalization
• Citizenship
• Race and Class
• Chicana/Chicano Studies
